Canterbury Hospital Redevelopment one step closer with first planning application lodged
The $350 million Canterbury Hospital Redevelopment has reached a new milestone, with the first planning application now on exhibition, bringing new and enhanced health services a step closer for the local community.
The NSW Government is delivering the largest upgrade to Canterbury Hospital in more than 26 years, helping to meet the current and future healthcare needs of the growing community.
The project includes a new multi-storey building accommodating a new intensive care unit, adult inpatient accommodation, expanded emergency department, surgical and outpatient services.
Staff and the local community are encouraged to view and provide feedback on the planning application to help inform the early works stage of the $350 million project.
Early works will include the expansion and refurbishment of existing antenatal facilities and improving access to more enhanced care spaces for families in Canterbury sooner. The site will also be prepared for main works construction, which is scheduled to commence next year following planning approval.
Community information drop-in sessions are being held this month, providing staff and community members the opportunity to speak directly with the project team and share their feedback. Formal submissions must be lodged online, via the Have Your Say platform.
