Additional free car parking at Port Macquarie Base Hospital now complete
Patients, staff and visitors are now benefiting from over 200 additional free car park spaces at Port Macquarie Base Hospital, improving access to local health care services.
The final stage of the Car Park Project is now complete, with 20 new parking spaces adding to the more than 180 additional spaces that opened last year.
The project was delivered as part of the NSW Government’s $33.97 Helipad and Car Park project for the hospital.
Since becoming operational in late 2023, the hospital’s new helipad has enabled the safe and timely transportation of dozens of patients. Its location provides aeromedical clinicals with direct access to the hospital’s emergency department and new operating theatres which allows for immediate lifesaving care to patients.
Further enhancements are on the way with the NSW Government investing $265 million in the Port Macquarie Base Hospital upgrade. Planning for the project is under way, which will deliver an expansion of the emergency department and maternity department, and essential upgrades to the mechanical systems of the existing hospital building.
This investment will further support the continued delivery of high-quality care to communities on the Mid North Coast.
