Celebrating our community through arts and culture
Developed in collaboration with our First Nations and multicultural communities, the arts strategy plays an integral role in creating a culturally safe and welcoming space for our patients, staff and visitors in the new building.
Led by arts consultant City People, the arts program will be delivered in two exciting parts exploring the ideas of resilience, journeys, nature, family, and connection.
New entrance artworks: The artworks will highlight and honour our First Nations people.
Wall art (envirographics): This artwork will be inclusive of our multicultural community and featured across four floors within patient and public spaces.
New entrance artwork
The new hospital entrance off Goulburn Street will feature two spectacular artwork displays led by First Nations artist group ZakPage, codesigned with the local Aboriginal community. The suspended sculpture will be designed to tell stories connected to place.
The large digital screen will explore film and design to create an immersive storytelling experience that speaks to traditional knowledge, ceremonies, rituals, and its impact on the Australian identity.

Wall art
The fantastic and vibrant wall art (envirographics) was designed in consultation with the local multicultural community and developed by four local artists in collaboration with the Barahanos Byrne team.
The wall graphics, spanning across four floors of the new building, reflect the diverse culture of Liverpool and the themes of belonging and culture.
Our wonderful project artists are:
- Federico Rekowski – Healing Essence
- Kevser Ugurlu – Journey in Harmony
- Kevin Vo – Reflections
- Yasameen Albo – Shanasheel
The artworks have been installed on the walls in patient waiting areas, behind patient beds and in lift lobbies across the new building.

We understand that art plays an important role in improving the health and wellbeing outcomes of patients, staff, and visitors.
We look forward to sharing more exciting details about our wonderful arts program soon.
