Community consultation helps shape Shoalhaven Hospital Redevelopment
Consultation with community and staff is helping shape the state-of-the-art redevelopment, where work is expected to start next year.
Extensive consultation with clinicians, staff, patients, consumers and the local community has helped shape the $438 million Shoalhaven Memorial Hospital Redevelopment, which will provide new facilities including:
- cardiology
- mental health wards
- aged care wards
- more operating theatres
- a new emergency department
- greater access to more specialised staff, equipment and technology
- a new rooftop helipad.
The redevelopment is part of the NSW Government's record $11.9 billion investment in health infrastructure over four years to 2025-26, with nearly a third of the capital allocation in this financial year going towards regional and rural health facilities.
It will complement other health projects for the Illawarra Shoalhaven community, including more than $700 million for the new Shellharbour Hospital and integrated services and the recently completed projects including the:
- $11.8 million for the new Shoalhaven Hospital multi-storey car park
- Dapto and Ulladulla HealthOne projects, delivered as part of the $100 million HealthOne program.
