Manning Hospital Redevelopment project team updates the community
Taree residents took the opportunity to learn more about the second stage of the Manning Hospital Redevelopment at community pop-up sessions on 30 July.
The sessions, which were rescheduled after the town was affected by flooding in May, were held in the Manning Regional Art Gallery and Taree Central Shopping Centre.
Residents had plenty of questions for the project team on topics that included what will be built, where it will be located and when would begin.
The work of demolishing buildings to create a level site for construction of the new three-storey inpatient building is almost complete. Remaining works include installing and connecting the new bulk oxygen tanks and removing the remaining rubble. This work should be completed by the end of September.
There's plenty of activity behind the senes as we move closer to starting work on the main construction works.
Tenders will be going out shortly to engage a builder under an 'Early Contractor Involvement' agreement. Getting the builder in early will help the project team to finalise the design and ensure clinical priorities are delivered for the local community within budget.
The planning application for the main works is expected to go on public exhibition, with the community invited to comment, early in 2026. Once approval has been secured, the main works construction can get underway.
