Concord Hospital reaches its highest point
The $341 million Concord Hospital Redevelopment celebrated a major milestone, with a traditional topping out ceremony.
The ceremony was for the new eight-storey Clinical Services Building reaching its full height.
The design of the new building will improve the healthcare experience for both patients and carers, with more than two-thirds of the new inpatient beds to be single patient rooms, many with daybeds to allow a carer to stay for extended periods.
The Concord Hospital Redevelopment will also deliver:
- Australia's first National Centre for Veterans' Healthcare to support veterans and their families in an outpatient setting
- The Rusty Priest Centre for Rehabilitation and Aged Care, which includes ambulatory care clinics, therapy areas and rehabilitation gyms
- a comprehensive Cancer Care Centre, which will have additional capacity for day and inpatient cancer services
- a new atrium that will link the new building to the existing hospital, providing direct access to operating theatres, radiology and emergency care.
- Construction of a new multistorey car park for Concord Hospital will begin following the completion of the redevelopment, expected in late 2021.
