Construction begins on Temora Hospital Redevelopment
Main works construction is under way on the $95 million Temora Hospital Redevelopment, marking an important milestone for Temora and surrounding communities.
A sod turning event was held on site to mark the start of works, which was attended by local representatives, health workers and project partners.
The redevelopment will deliver modern health facilities and expanded services for Temora and surrounding communities, ensuring residents have access to high-quality care closer to home.
Local communities will benefit from new services including a purpose-built operating theatre and procedure room in the perioperative suite. For the first time, the hospital will provide CT and ultrasound services, expanding medical imaging capabilities and enhancing diagnostic care.
The redevelopment will include:
- An Emergency Department
- Inpatient Unit for flexible use for medical, surgical, rehabilitation, maternity, and palliative care patients
- Birthing and nursery suite
- Operating theatre and procedure room
- Allied health and ambulatory clinics with gymnasium
- Community health and mental health, drug and alcohol services
- Expanded medical imaging capabilities, including the hospital’s first CT machine and ultrasound service.
In addition, the project will deliver improved car parking for patients, staff and visitors, along with a separate emergency and service vehicle entry.
Richard Crookes Construction has been appointed as the main works contractor following a competitive tender process. The project will create around 100 direct full-time jobs during construction, with potential for hundreds of indirect jobs throughout the life of the project.
The Temora Hospital Redevelopment is expected to be completed in 2028.
