Cowra Hospital bricks and commemorative plaques retained
As redevelopment planning continues, a piece of Cowra’s hospital history will be carefully preserved. A portion of bricks from the previous Cowra Hospital will be retained, alongside bricks from the former nurses’ quarters.
In the coming months, members of the community will have the opportunity to purchase a commemorative brick, with proceeds supporting the Cowra and District Cancer Action Group. These bricks offer a meaningful way to recognise personal connections, celebrate community history, and support local cancer services.
Details about when and where the bricks will be available for sale will be shared once final arrangements are confirmed. Anyone interested in purchasing a brick is encouraged to register their interest to receive updates directly.

All hospital plaques, both internal and external to the old hospital building, have now been carefully removed as part of the redevelopment works. The plaques have been repositioned within the new Cowra Hospital lightwell.
Accompanying the plaques is the bronze horse statue, which was previously located near the ground floor lifts.
This new location brings these important commemorative items together in a single space, allowing the hospital’s history to be recognised and respected during the next chapter of development.
