Cultural inclusion to feature in hospital signage
Gunnedah Hospital seeks community input on Gamilaraay translations for signage, enhancing cultural safety in its 2025 redevelopment.
The Gunnedah Hospital Redevelopment project team respectfully acknowledges the Gomeroi, Kamilaroi, Gamilaroi People as the traditional owners and custodians of the land on which the Gunnedah Hospital is built.
As part of the redevelopment, we are seeking the assistance of local community members to share Gamilaraay language for use in wayfinding signage throughout the new hospital building. Construction on the redevelopment is underway and due for completion in late 2025.
Language consultations were held at Red Chief Local Aboriginal Land Council during March 2025 with Odee Welsh and community members. A draft list of language translations is included below.
We are seeking community feedback on the translations until 5pm on Monday 7 April 2025. If you have feedback, please email HI-Gunnedah-Redevelopment@health.nsw.gov.au or phone (02) 9978 5468.
