Data drives location for new Coffs Harbour NSW Ambulance Station
Best practice demand modelling software was used to determine the preferred location for Coff Harbour's new ambulance station.
The new station is being delivered under Stage 2 of the $232 million Rural Ambulance Infrastructure Program (RAIR).
Demand modelling software that maps Triple Zero calls was used by NSW Ambulance and Health Infrastructure to determine 72 Marcia Street as the most suitable location for mobile emergency care in the region.
The new station will enable paramedics to meet current and future demand through the latest facilities to best serve the emergency medical care needs of the Coffs Harbour region. The station is due for completion in 2022 and will replace the facility located on the Coffs Harbour Hospital Campus.
It will feature:
- internal parking for up to 12 emergency ambulance vehicles
- relief accommodation for paramedics
- an internal wash bay
- administration and office areas
- storage and staff parking.
Next steps include:
- further investigations
- community engagement
- design development
- securing planning approval for the new station.
The $232 million RAIR program is the single largest investment in regional NSW Ambulance's 126-year history, with 24 new or upgraded ambulance stations already delivered or under construction as part of the $132 million Stage 1. Another $100million worth of ambulance assets are being delivered under Stage 2 of the program.
