Designs unveiled for $630 million Fairfield Hospital Redevelopment
The latest designs for the $630 million Fairfield Hospital Redevelopment have been unveiled, showcasing the vision for the hospital campus.
The NSW Government has committed $550 million to deliver the redevelopment, with a further $80 million contribution from the Commonwealth Government to expand the Emergency Department.
New artist impressions reveal plans for the proposed five-storey clinical services building, which will seamlessly connect to the existing hospital through a welcoming new main entry and convenient drop-off area.
The new clinical services building is expected to include –
- A new and expanded Emergency Department
- Intensive Care Unit
- Medical Imaging
- Operating theatres
- Inpatient units.
Some existing departments will also be relocated or refurbished as part of the project.
The redevelopment also includes a new 460-space multi-storey car park, featuring pedestrian connections to the existing hospital and adjacent Braeside Hospital.
Early works are currently underway to prepare the campus for redevelopment, including the expansion of existing car parking areas. These works will be completed in the coming months, which will be followed by construction of the multi-storey car park, pending appointment of a contractor.
Extensive feedback from hospital staff and the community during the planning and design phase has helped inform the clinical services building design. Ongoing consultation with staff continues to shape the detailed plans required for main works construction, ahead of the public exhibition of the main works planning application later this year.
The Fairfield Hospital Redevelopment forms part of the NSW Government’s more than $3.4 billion investment over the next 4 years to deliver new and upgraded hospitals for communities across Western Sydney.
The project is being delivered in partnership with South Western Sydney Local Health District.
