Eurobodalla Regional Hospital Development Approved
On 27 May 2024, the NSW Department of Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure approved the construction of the new Eurobodalla Regional Hospital.
Health Infrastructure has been authorised to build a 3-storey hospital in southeast Moruya, including:
- site preparation
- internal roads with access from Princes Highway and Caswell Street
- car parking
- loading dock
- landscaping.
The Level 4 health facility will include:
- an emergency department
- an 8-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU) or Close Observation Unit (COU)
- expanded chemotherapy and renal dialysis services
- surgical and operating theatres with a day stay surgical unit
- enhanced medical imaging, including MRI
- ambulatory care for outpatient services
- paediatric and maternity services, plus a special care nursery
- mental health beds for short-term admissions
- education and training facilities, including a simulation laboratory.
In the coming weeks, Health Infrastructure will appoint a Main Works contractor to begin construction.
Site establishment works will start in June 2024, including the installation of site sheds and the construction of an ancillary road for construction access.

How the work will affect you
We understand that building new infrastructure can affect nearby residents and the community. We prioritise the health and safety of the local community in all construction activities. In line with statutory requirements, we will manage noise, dust, and vibration to minimise impacts on the surrounding area.
Once the hospital site is established, construction workers will access it from Princes Highway and park onsite. Workers will be advised not to park in nearby residential streets. During the early stages of construction, before the new roundabout on Princes Highway is completed, temporary access routes may be needed to support early works.
We will monitor and manage site access throughout construction and may introduce short-term traffic controls and speed limit reductions when required. For your safety, please follow the directions of traffic controllers.
To support future access to the new hospital, a new roundabout will be constructed on the Princes Highway. Construction of the new roundabout started in early 2025 and will be finished in late 2025.
Planning is underway, and we will consult and inform local residents before work begins. Construction hours will be 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, and 8am to 1pm on Saturday, with no work on Sundays or public holidays. We will notify you in advance of any changes to these times.
