Excavation works underway for the Glen Innes Hospital Redevelopment
Excavation works for the new lifts and the ambulance bay for the Glen Innes Hospital Redevelopment are well underway.
As of late June 2026, the eastern end (closest to the hospital building) has been excavated and filled with concrete to form the foundation for the new fire stairs, and the western end of the pit was being excavated for the lift pit.
The construction of the new acute services building is being delivered in stages, to ensure all hospital operations can continue uninterrupted during construction. Once the new lifts and ambulance bay have been completed, the builder will then commence with the services works, including the creation of the new substation on Macquarie Street and the relocation of the bulk oxygen tank.
Future works will include demolition of the existing ambulance ramp, old mortuary and laundry buildings, followed by excavation works for the new acute services building. We appreciate your patience and support as we progress with these works.
