Health Infrastructure delivers largest health capital spend
Health Infrastructure has delivered its largest health capital spend to date more than $2 billion of infrastructure, completing 20 projects across the state.
Thank you to our staff, contractors, designers and architects, cost managers, planners, project managers, Local Health Districts, education partners, and the hospital staff and clinicians.
Some major milestones in 2020 included:
- Construction on Westmead Health Precinct's 14-storey Central Acute Services Building the centrepiece of the more than $1 billion redevelopment completed months ahead of schedule.
- Works commencing ahead of schedule for an interim expansion of the John Hunter Hospital Emergency Department to assist in responding to the COVID-19 outbreak.
- Health Infrastructure partnering with universities and industry partners to lead the NSW Government's rapid progress in the NSW-based manufacture of back-up ventilator solutions.
- Projects including the $73 million Macksville Hospital Development and $70.7 million Mudgee Hospital Redevelopment fast-tracked to provide increased health care capacity to manage COVID-19.
- Funding for Stage 3 of the St George Hospital Redevelopment to be accelerated over the next two years, starting the project earlier than planned.
- The $750 million Royal Prince Alfred (RPA) Hospital Redevelopment to be delivered earlier than planned.
- NSW's first public purpose-built Mother and Baby Mental Health Unit to be built at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital.
Next year, Health Infrastructure has been tasked with the delivery of $10.7 billion of health capital investment over the four years to 2023-24.
