Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct's new theatre equipped with cutting-edge technology
A new fully integrated digital operating theatre has opened at Liverpool Hospital, bringing the total number of theatres to 17.
Delivered as part of the $830 million Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct redevelopment, the theatre is equipped with cutting-edge technology, including large screens and cameras, providing surgeons with enhanced visibility during procedures.
Nurse Manager Perioperative Services Janine Lajch said staff were excited about the opening of the theatre.
“The theatre has greatly enhanced our capabilities and improved care,’’ Janine said.
Special features of the theatre include a suspended medical device, or pendant, which provides easy access to vital equipment and supplies.
“The pendant has been specifically designed to improve workflow and ergonomics, ensuring the surgical team can function at its best,” Janine said.
Hand sensors have also been installed at door openings to foster a more sterile environment and to streamline movement within the theatre.
