Liverpool Hospital recycling of materials a major focus
Environmental sustainability is a top priority for the Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct (LHAP) redevelopment.
Following the demolition of three of Liverpool Hospital's buildings to make way for Phase 2 of the redevelopment, thousands of tonnes of waste materials have been recycled.
The total construction waste in 2025 was 3213 tonnes, which is equivalent to 2500 cars!
An incredible 95 per cent of all waste produced has been recycled. This includes 253 tonnes of recycled plastics, 1185 tonnes of recycled timber, and 400 tonnes of recycled metal.
"Our team do a phenomenal job to make our projects sustainable - it is fantastic to be able to recycle the demolition waste and to know that all those materials will be used again somewhere else," Johnstaff Project Director Hicham Dagher said.
Johnstaff provides project management services for LHAP.
