Moree Hospital Redevelopment Aboriginal language project
As part of the Moree Hospital Redevelopment, Gamilaraay language and storytelling will be incorporated in the new hospital building.
The Moree Hospital Redevelopment project team respectfully acknowledges the Gomeroi/Kamilaroi/Gamilaraay People as the traditional owners and custodians of the land on which the Moree Hospital is built.
As part of the redevelopment arts strategy, we are incorporating Gamilaraay language throughout the new hospital building’s signage. Construction on the redevelopment is underway and due for completion in 2027.
The draft Gamilaraay language translations have been developed by the Language Reference Group and informed by the Dhiiyaan and Pius X Elders Groups, Boggabilla Elders and the Moree Hospital Aboriginal Staff Collaborative.
We are seeking final community feedback on the language translations by 5pm on Sunday 10 August 2025.
