The Shoalhaven Hospital Redevelopment team proudly took part in the 2025 Shoalhaven NAIDOC Fun Day, held on Wednesday 9 July at the Nowra Showground.
The team hosted a community pop-up stall to celebrate culture, connection to Country, and share updates on the future of healthcare in the region.
To help foster a deeper connection to the new hospital, the project team gifted native seedlings to community members, the same species that will feature in the redevelopment landscaping plans. The event was an opportunity for the community to learn more about the redevelopment and how local Aboriginal art and culture will be embedded into the design of the new spaces.
This year’s NAIDOC Week theme, "The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy," celebrates not only the achievements of the past but the bright future ahead, resonating strongly to the commitment of the redevelopment to ensure the new hospital reflects and respects the people it serves.
The NSW Government has committed $440 million to the Shoalhaven Hospital Redevelopment, which will make it the health hub for the entire region. It will provide the majority of emergency, critical care, acute, subacute and non-admitted services locally, reducing the need to transfer patients to Wollongong and Sydney.
The new Acute Services Building at Shoalhaven Hospital Redevelopment is on track for completion in 2026, with updates on the project available at the Shoalhaven Hospital Redevelopment project page.
