Nepean Hospital’s new Child and Adolescent Mental Health Unit complete
Construction of the new Child and Adolescent Mental Health Unit at Nepean Hospital is now complete, enhancing mental health care for young people across the Nepean and Blue Mountains region.
Delivered as part of the NSW Government’s $700 million Statewide Mental Health Infrastructure Program, the purpose-built unit will provide specialist care for young people aged 12 – 17 years when it opens in the coming months.
The new unit features –
- 10 single bedrooms with ensuites
- A light-filled communal area
- Secure outdoor spaces, including courtyards
- A sensory room
- Consultation rooms
- Learning and recreational spaces
- A media room
- Carer suites.
Designed in collaboration with young people, their families and carers, the new unit creates a supportive environment that prioritises recovery and delivers high-quality care tailored to each young person’s unique needs, supporting their ongoing health and wellbeing.
Ahead of its opening, the community is being invited to tour the new unit on Saturday 14 March from 9.30am to 1.30pm. Online bookings are essential.
The Nepean Child and Adolescent Mental Health Unit has been delivered by Health Infrastructure in partnership with Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District and building contractor, Donnelley Constructions.
