Nepean Redevelopment Project Zone update February 2026
Summary of the latest Nepean Hospital Redevelopment construction activities.
Welcome to the first Nepean Redevelopment newsletter for 2026.
This month, we celebrate construction completion of the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) project. We also share details about the Public Open Day for the new CAMHS unit, give an update on Stage 2 construction progress, and give a reminder about access changes between Building C and the P1 multistorey carpark.
Construction of the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services Unit is complete

Construction is now complete on the new Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services Unit at Nepean Hospital, enhancing mental health care for young people aged 12–17 years across the Nepean and Blue Mountains region.
To celebrate this exciting milestone, Minister for Mental Health Rose Jackson and MP for Penrith Karen McKeown visited the new unit which will be named the Nepean Adolescent Mental Health Unit when it opens.
Delivered as part of the NSW Government’s $700 million Statewide Mental Health Infrastructure Program, the purpose-built unit features 10 single bedrooms with ensuites, light-filled communal and learning spaces, outdoor courtyards, consultation rooms, a sensory and media room as well as dedicated carer suites.
Final touches are underway and the service is entering a comprehensive operational commissioning process to ensure it’s ready to support patients in the coming months.
Congratulations to everyone involved in the planning, design and delivery of this exciting new service. It is an amazing addition to youth mental health services in Western Sydney.

Dharug artist Jessica Tobin was commissioned to complete two paintings for the new Nepean Adolescent Mental Health Unit.
Jessica said her works are about "connection to water" and healing.

The new Stage 2 building edges closer to completion
After nine years of planning, design and construction, the redevelopment is entering its final year in 2026.
Construction completion of the new seven-storey building is expected to occur in the second half of this year and will be followed by an extensive commissioning period.
Exciting progress continues at Nepean Redevelopment with the installation of the massive glass panels for the three-storey entry now complete. Terrazzo flooring is also being installed adding a further touch of grandeur to the space.
The next construction milestone will be the removal of scaffolding to reveal the new building's facade featuring terracotta and white panels, which were inspired by escarpments in the Blue Mountains.
Inside the building, internal carpet and doors have been installed on the lower levels while the upper levels have seen major progress with walls and ceilings complete.
The builders have also made good progress to the new palliative care unit on Level 7 with inpatient rooms, communal spaces and staff areas starting to take shape.
Access changes between Building C and P1 carpark
To progress Stage 2 of the redevelopment, pedestrian access near the P1 Car Park and hospital loading dock will be temporarily closed for road improvement works for several weeks. This will affect anyone walking between the P1 car park and Building C.
Key information:
- Hospital Access: Use P1 Car Park Level 2 via the link-bridge
- Barber Avenue: Ground-level access from P1 to Barber Avenue remains open
- Building C Visitors: Use P2 or P4 Car Parks for the most convenient access
- Signage: Please follow pedestrian and traffic signage at all times and allow extra time to get to your appointments.
For assistance in the hospital please speak to our friendly staff or volunteers. For more information or any questions, please email us at HI-nepeanredevelopment@health.nsw.gov.au. All works are carefully planned and staged to minimise disruption for patients, visitors, and staff.
