Nepean Redevelopment Project Zone update July 2025
Summary of the latest Nepean Hospital Redevelopment construction activities in July 2025.
This month, the Nepean Redevelopment team hosted Member for Penrith, Karen McKeown OAM at the site. We also provide an update on construction progress for Stage 2 and the new Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services Unit.
New stage 2 building progressing
The concrete structure of the new Stage 2 building is up to Level 6 and the builders are now preparing the site for the concrete pour of Level 7. When complete, the Stage 2 building will feature a welcoming main entry, a new medical imaging department, intensive care unit, in-centre renal dialysis unit and a paediatric inpatient unit.
Did you know that the structure contains 2,800 tonnes of steel reinforcement? That weighs more than 200 buses!

First look at the hospital's new atrium
Last week, the builders removed the interior scaffolding on the ground floor of the Stage 2 building revealing what will be a grand three-storey atrium at the entrance of the new hospital.
"I'm really excited about having a clear main entry to the hospital. The atrium will be the doorway into the new hospital and directly connect to the Building A tower," Redevelopment manager Paul Isaac said.
"As you walk in, you will see a welcoming reception and a grand staircase up to Level 2. Each of the levels encompassing the atrium will also be framed with glass balustrades which will look fantastic when complete," he said.
Walls and partitions are also being installed on Levels 0 to 3, with work beginning on the exterior façade of the building.
Elsewhere, works are also progressing on the new hospital loading dock with the concrete slab now poured. Steel framing will be erected in the coming weeks.

What do you do at Nepean redevelopment?
I work across Stage 2 and the Community Health portfolios at Nepean Redevelopment.
What are you most looking forward to in the next coming months at Nepean?
I'm excited to see what the atrium at the entrance of the new hospital will look like. The scaffolding has come down and that front opening is huge!

Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services Unit one step closer
Construction is also well underway on a new purpose built Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) Unit for young people aged 12-17.
Fixtures, Fittings and Equipment Manager for the CAMHS project, Tracey De Villecourt said the environment of the new unit has been thoughtfully created to feel welcoming and appropriate for adolescents.
“Every detail in the unit — from the furniture and lighting to the colours and materials — has been chosen to make the space feel more home-like and non-clinical.

"We wanted to create an environment that feels familiar and comfortable, where young people can relax and focus on getting the support they need to return to their everyday lives feeling more confident and more secure,” Ms De Villecourt said.
Internally, the different spaces are taking shape with the plasterboard walls and ceilings underway and the installation of internal services are ongoing.
Windows are being installed and paint is also being applied to walls.
Construction is on track for completion later this year and the new facility will open following a commissioning period.
