New Prairiewood Ambulance Station planned for Fairfield Hospital campus
The design for the new Prairiewood Ambulance Station has been unveiled, giving the Fairfield community its first look at the modern facility to be built on the Fairfield Hospital campus.
Prairiewood is part of the NSW Government's $615.5 million NSW Ambulance Infrastructure Program, which will deliver 30 new ambulance stations and supporting infrastructure across NSW over the coming years.
The purpose-built station will provide a high-quality workplace for local paramedics and will include:
- Internal parking for up to 10 emergency vehicles
- On-site vehicle wash facilities
- Administration and logistics areas
- Multipurpose spaces
- Staff amenities including a gym
- On-site parking.
Prairiewood was identified as a high-priority location by NSW Ambulance through a comprehensive service planning process which used best practice modelling software to map Triple Zero (000) calls.
Located on the corner of Polding and McKeown streets, the new ambulance station will optimise emergency response times and strengthen access to mobile medical care for the local community.
Construction of the new station is expected to begin in 2027, with Prairiewood one of several new stations being delivered across south-western Sydney, alongside stations at Raby, Prestons, Glendenning, Glenmore Park and Bargo.
The NSW Government is also delivering ambulance stations and supporting infrastructure across Sydney, the Central Coast, Newcastle, the Hunter and Illawarra regions, strengthening emergency and mobile care for both metropolitan and regional communities.
