One year of main works at John Hunter Health and Innovation Precinct
Progress over the past 12 months includes new site offices, expansion of Carpark 5 and the foundation work for the new building that will connect to the existing hospital.
It's been one year since main works began on the John Hunter Health and Innovation Precinct redevelopment.
In the past 12 months, we've installed offices on-site for a project team of more than 110 people, built prototype rooms of clinical spaces that will be typical in the new building, made great progress on the road infrastructure that will connect to the bypass, and installed two tower cranes, Lifty and Lofty, to support construction work.
More than 30 trades have been involved with the project to-date. There has been over 10,000 cubic meters of concrete poured (around 4 Olympic-sized swimming pools), more than 780 tonnes of steel reinforcement installed (about 7 blue whales) and there are now 105 concrete columns in place.
