Construction begins for Orange Health Service palliative care
Construction is now underway to expand the inpatient palliative care spaces at Orange Health Service, marking a significant milestone.
The expansion is being delivered as part of the NSW Government’s $93 million World Class End of Life Care program and will support people as they receive end-of-life care in a more home-like, comfortable setting, close to loved ones.
To support the two existing inpatient palliative care bedrooms, an additional three will be delivered and located near the oncology ward and current palliative care facilities. An outdoor courtyard is also included in the expansion.
The rooms have been designed in consultation with health professionals who provide end-of-life and palliative care, Aboriginal representatives, carers and the local community, and care.
Following a competitive tender process, Zauner Constructions has been engaged as the main works contractor.
The World Class End of Life Program will deliver new or redeveloped palliative care facilities across the state. In addition to Orange, other locations include Wyong, Nepean, Tamworth and Westmead Hospitals.
Construction is expected to be completed in 2026.
