Royal Prince Alfred Hospital Redevelopment notification of road works – Gloucester House Drive and Lambie Dew Drive, from Monday 17 August 2026

Timing

• Site establishment within the Gloucester House car park will commence on Monday 17 August 2026, from 7am to 5pm. Following this, works will transition to night works scheduled between 8pm and 5am, approximately three weeks, weather dependent.
• Where possible, noisier works will be carried out before 10pm wherever possible, to minimise impacts on nearby residents and patients.
• The site will be cleared and reinstated, with full access restored, by 5am each morning — ensuring hospital operations can resume as normal.

Scope of works

Road works include:

• Site set-up and services investigation
• Earthworks and excavation; kerb and gutter installation
• Asphalting, concrete cleaning and joint sealing

Night works have been scheduled specifically to minimise disruption to the hospital loading docks. Note: the Gloucester House car park will be inaccessible throughout this scope.

What you may notice

• Activities including jackhammering, saw-cutting and associated machinery, along theidentified section of Gloucester House Drive and Lambie Dew Drive (in front of the hospitalloading docks) — see next page for location of works.
• Task lighting used overnight to safely illuminate the work zone.
• Intermittent construction noise, particularly from saw-cutting works. Noise will occur inshort bursts, and the works team will manage activities progressively to reduce impact.
• Traffic controllers will be on site throughout the works to manage vehicle movements andpedestrian safety.

Access during works (8pm–5am)

• No access to Lambie Dew Drive (via Gloucester House Drive) or the loading docks during work hours.
• Hospital access on Gloucester House Drive for staff or the public.
• Emergency access will be maintained at all times
• Fire egress pathways will be kept clear for the duration of works, managed by traffic control.
• Patient transport and access to the RPA Women & Babies entrance, including Urgent Maternity, will be maintained at all times.
• Construction vehicles will enter via Gloucester House Drive and park along Lambie Dew Drive for unloading.
