Westmead Integrated Mental Health Complex main works construction underway
Main works is underway for the Integrated Mental Health Complex.
The new $540 million Integrated Mental Health Complex at Westmead will deliver new therapeutic environments that support safe, dignified, trauma-informed and recovery-focused care.
Construction of the IMHC started in late 2023 with demolition of buildings, service relocation, earthworks and site preparation for the new building. This work is now completed.
In late 2024 Richard Crookes Constructions (RCC) was awarded the contract to deliver the building and surrounds for the new IMHC. RCC are an Australian owned construction company with extensive experience working in live health precincts. This work is expected to take about two years to complete, weather and site conditions permitting. Construction of the new complex is expected to be completed in 2027.
Work times
Our work times are generally between 7am and 6pm from Monday to Friday, Saturdays 8am to 1pm.
How will the work affect you?
We recognise that building new infrastructure can be disruptive to nearby residents, businesses and road users. All construction activities are carried out with the health and safety of the local community as our top priority.
We endeavour to keep noise, dust and vibration to a minimum and we will make every effort to minimise impacts by:
• Installing solid A Class hoarding around entire site perimeter
• Programming noisy works to occur during the day
• Using noise and vibration monitors
• Using water trucks and other suppression measures to manage dust
We will monitor and manage access points throughout construction and may implement short term traffic control management and speed limit reductions when required. For your safety, please follow the directions of traffic controllers at all times.
