Works set to begin on Glen Innes Hospital Redevelopment
Works on the $50 million Glen Innes Hospital Redevelopment are set to begin in the coming months, with a builder appointed to deliver the main works construction.
TCQ Construction has been awarded the construction contract following a competitive tender process.
An investment by the NSW Government, the Glen Innes Hospital redevelopment will deliver:
- a new acute services building on the existing hospital campus
- an expanded emergency department
- medical imaging
- ambulance drop-off bays
- a mortuary.
The redevelopment also includes a new main hospital entry from Ferguson Street, improving access for patients, carers and visitors, with a convenient drop-off area located outside the new hospital building.
Next steps for the project include finalising the design of the new acute services building, alongside ongoing consultation with staff, community members and stakeholders to ensure the new building is a welcoming environment that reflects the heritage and culture of the region.
Consultation with staff and the community was undertaken throughout October and November 2025 as part of the project’s planning application, with the contractor appointment following planning determination received in December 2025.
Glen Innes Hospital will continue to operate during construction, providing ongoing care for Glen Innes and surrounding communities. The hospital will remain a District Hospital, networked with Armidale and Tamworth hospitals to support access to specialist services.
