About our Family Care Cottage
Parenting can be challenging for many different reasons. At the Family Care Cottage, our team of Child and Family Health Nurses and social workers are here to support you every step of the way.
The Family Care Cottage is a specialist service that offers evidence-based support to parents and families with babies and young children up to the age of 3.
What services are provided?
There is no cost for our services. Services include on-site appointments, home visits, day stay and group programs.
The services are designed to address the challenges of parenting and delivered by a team of Child and Family Health Nurses, Clinical Nurse Specialists and social workers.
The Family Care Cottage can help with:
Child and Family Health Nurses at the Family Care Cottage can support you with a wide range of feeding challenges for your baby or child. We offer practical advice and information tailored to your family's needs.
Toddlers can be full of energy and emotions. The Family Care Cottage team can work with you to find strategies that suit your family's values and routines.
Crying is a normal part of infant development, but it can sometimes feel overwhelming. Our nurses provide support and guidance with settling techniques to help you and your baby feel more comfortable.
Bringing a new baby home is a big life change. It’s normal to feel overwhelmed. The Family Care Cottage team understands that everyday tasks can feel more difficult in this new stage of life. We offer emotional and practical support to help you adjust to parenting.
Feeling anxious or low is common during the early parenting years. Our team is here to listen and support you. Social workers are available to provide counselling tailored to your individual needs.
Forming a bond with your baby takes time and every parent’s journey is different. The Family Care Cottage team can support you as you build a strong and nurturing relationship with your child.
Referrals
To access our services, you will need a referral and to make an appointment.
Referrals can be made by a:
- Child and Family Health Nurse
- doctor or GP (General Practitioner)
- other health professional
- family worker.
If accepted, we will contact you to discuss your referral.
