Community housing providers (CHPs) are being supported to build more social and affordable housing in NSW. They are doing this through partnership opportunities with Homes NSW.
About this policy
In 2020, the CHP direct dealing policy was introduced to provide a streamlined and transparent pathway for CHPs to partner with the NSW Land and Housing Corporation (now Homes NSW) to deliver social and affordable housing.
This policy was updated in 2022 to increase the flexibility in the types of projects and commercial arrangements able to be considered. Deals supported by the CHP direct dealing policy include:
- larger partnership proposals from experienced Tier 1 and Tier 2 CHPs, including Aboriginal CHPs, with leasehold rights over Homes NSW properties to recycle, renew or redevelop the properties. These have a maximum Homes NSW investment (land and/or capital) of $25 million.
- smaller partnership proposals from any registered CHP, or Aboriginal CHP, requesting Homes NSW sell or acquire land, or invest in a development project. These have a maximum Homes NSW investment (land and/or capital) value of $10 million.
