Canterbury-Bankstown Council continues to develop and implement a new strategic, coordinated, place-led and design-based New Planning Framework that includes the Local Strategic Planning Statement, Local Housing Strategy, consolidated Local Environmental Plan, Development Control Plan and Developer Contribution Plan.

Transport for NSW
Transport for NSW is delivering the Sydney Metro Southwest recognising the transformative opportunities presented by north-south transit which will provide better connectivity within and to Canterbury-Bankstown. In particular, the Sydenham to Bankstown line is being upgraded to Metro, and the future Bankstown to Liverpool Metro line is currently under investigation.

Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure
The Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure (DPHI) continues to work closely with Council and the community in the development of principle-based planning strategy along the Sydenham to Bankstown urban renewal corridor to provide the framework for future decision making. This will likely result in amended planning controls.

Approximately 1,300 dwellings owned by the Homes NSW in Canterbury-Bankstown LGA are managed by community housing providers (CHPs).
