- NSW maintains a strong and growing trade relationship with the Middle East, with the majority of activity concentrated among the six member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). In 2023–24, two-way merchandise trade between NSW and the GCC was valued at $1.86 billion.
- The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is NSW’s largest trading partner in the region, accounting for $1.25 billion in two-way merchandise trade in 2023–24. This corridor is expected to expand further following the Australia–UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), signed in November 2024 and expected to enter into force this year. Under CEPA, tariffs on 99 per cent of NSW goods will be eliminated, creating new opportunities for NSW exporters.
- The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) represents another significant partner, with two-way merchandise trade reaching $293 million in 2023–24. KSA's Vision 2030 agenda - focused on diversifying its economy and delivering giga-projects - presents potential for NSW businesses to engage in sectors such as infrastructure, renewable energy, and advanced technologies.
