In 2025, North West Local Land Services continued to deliver best‑practice production advice to landholders, supported by another year of solid rainfall across the region.
Invasive species management remained one of our core priorities. Through coordinated aerial and ground control efforts, community education, the Feral Pig and Pest Program, partnerships with local councils, and the Good Neighbours Program, we worked closely with communities to reduce the impact of pests on local landscapes and businesses.
Our Land Management team played a key role in the NSW Farmers Native Vegetation Regulatory Map roadshow, helping landholders understand and apply new mapping information with confidence.
Producers also benefited from forward‑thinking agricultural advice delivered through a wide range of workshops, including our signature North West Beef Producers Forum. Local livestock producers were further supported by our Travelling Stock Reserve rangers, who continued to upgrade watering points, manage weeds, and oversee stock permits across the region.
We also made strong progress this year across two important Natural Heritage Trust projects. Through the Valuing Natural Assets on Farms project, landholders received tailored coaching to better manage natural features such as farm dams. Complementing this work, the Cool Burning for Culture and Ecological Knowledge project deepened partnerships with local Aboriginal communities, delivering cultural burns and supporting the protection of critically endangered box‑gum grassy woodland ecological communities.
To cap off a busy year, our District Veterinarians and biosecurity staff helped maintain strong market access through essential compliance and surveillance activities.
As our teams prepare for another big year of programs and events, I’m excited to see what 2026 brings for the North West.
