Be part of this practical, hands-on workshop series that brings ourcommunity together for a shared purpose: restoring habitat in the Greater Blue Mountains.
Event details:
Central Tablelands Local Land Services, in partnership with the Lithgow and Districts Community Nursery, is delivering a series of monthly, hands-on workshops held at various locations throughout the Capertee Valley.
These field-based workshops build practical skills in native seed collection and support local biodiversity and on-ground restoration.
You will learn how to:
identify local native plant species and understand their role in the landscape
collect native seed using best-practice techniques across a range of species and vegetation types.
Who should attend
anyone interested in improving native biodiversity in the Capertee Valley and the adjacent Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area
seed collected will be propagated by the nursery and used in local revegetation projects, including the BirdLife Regent Honeyeater planting project.

Tools, equipment and training provided (bring your own secateurs if preferred).
These workshops will be self-catered.
Participants will also be required to drive to collection sites in their own vehicles.
Workshops will be outside, so appropriate clothing will be required.
Workshop dates:
Workshops are held on the 4th Thursday of each month from January to May 2026, 9:30 am - 2:30 pm.

Session 4: Thursday 23 April 2026
Session 5: Thursday 28 May 2026
Note: Attendance at the first session is not mandatory for later sessions.
