Capertee Valley native seed collection workshops - session 1

Be part of this practical, hands-on workshop series that brings ourcommunity together for a shared purpose: restoring habitat in the Greater Blue Mountains. 

Event details:

Central Tablelands Local Land Services, in partnership with the Lithgow and Districts Community Nursery, is delivering a series of monthly, hands-on workshops held at various locations throughout the Capertee Valley.

These field-based workshops build practical skills in native seed collection and support local biodiversity and on-ground restoration.

You will learn how to: 

• identify local native plant species and understand their role in the landscape

• collect native seed using best-practice techniques across a range of species and vegetation types.

Who should attend

• anyone interested in improving native biodiversity in the Capertee Valley and the adjacent Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area

• seed collected will be propagated by the nursery and used in local revegetation projects, including the BirdLife Regent Honeyeater planting project.
  

Additional details:

• Please RSVP by 14 January 2026

• Tools, equipment and training provided (bring your own secateurs if preferred).

• These workshops will be self-catered.

• Participants will also be required to drive to collection sites in their own vehicles.

• Workshops will be outside, so appropriate clothing will be required.

Workshop dates:

Workshops are held on the 4th Thursday of each month from January to May 2026, 9:30 am - 2:30 pm.

• Session 2: Thursday 26 February 2026

• Session 3: Thursday 26 March 2026

• Session 4: Thursday 23 April 2026

• Session 5: Thursday 28 May 2026

Note: Attendance at the first session is not mandatory for later sessions.
