Join North West Local Land Services and fellow producers for a bus tour to Sapphire Feedlot owned by Smithfield Cattle Co, and learn about their cropping, composting, state of the art cattle handling facilities, and feedlot systems.
Event details:
See firsthand how Smithfield Cattle Co operates at scale as a family-run business and learn from their innovative practices:
cropping systems and cover cropping strategies
multi-species plantings for livestock production
composting and commercial-scale use of on-farm biological inputs
state-of-the-art cattle handling facilities inspired by Temple Grandin-based principles
feedlot system built to a capacity of 28,750 SCU
reducing chemical and fertiliser inputs without compromising productivity
feedback from on-farm trials and practical lessons learned.

Bus pick up and drop off times:
Depart: 7:30 am NSW time from Moree Local Land Services office.
Return: 5:10 pm NSW time (approximately).
