Overview of this event
Hands-on workshop introducing faecal egg counts and parasite management for ruminants and horses, covering sampling, microscopy, and targeted control principles
Event details:
Join Greater Sydney Local Land Services for this practical workshop, introducing the core concepts behind parasite monitoring and control in both ruminants and horses.
Participants will learn the fundamentals of collecting and preparing faecal samples, gain experience in recognising common parasite eggs under the microscope, and explore the principles that guide evidence-based worm control programs.
The session is designed to build confidence in understanding parasite burdens, interpreting basic results, and making informed decisions about when and how to implement targeted treatments.
Whether you manage a few animals or a larger herd, this workshop provides a clear, accessible foundation to support healthier, more sustainable parasite management practices across your property.
