Farming Fundamentals session 3: Fertility to birth

Hands-on workshops building practical skills in disease identification, control and core farm management to help landholders strengthen animal health practices.

Northern Tablelands Local Land Services is delivering a Farming Fundamentals Workshop series, designed to build practical knowledge and confidence in core farm management.

The third workshop, held in Armidale on Wednesday 15 July 2026, will focus on reproductive success from fertility to birth, providing practical information on reproductive management, pregnancy health and reducing losses associated with abortion, metabolic disease and other complications.

These workshops are ideal for landholders, livestock producers and those new to farming who want to strengthen their understanding of animal health, biosecurity and livestock management.

Participants will gain practical knowledge on:

• fertility and reproductive management strategies

• pregnancy monitoring and managing reproductive performance

• causes and prevention of abortion and reproductive losses

• identifying and managing downer animals around pregnancy and calving/lambing

• nutrition and health factors affecting reproductive success.

These workshops provide practical, regionally relevant information to help landholders improve livestock management, meet regulatory requirements and strengthen farm biosecurity.
