Overview of this event
A practical workshop on goat skills, covering key health, handling and husbandry challenges in the North Coast region and information on goat EID implementation.
Event details:
Are you a producer, breeder or proud goat owner?
Join North Coast Local Land Services for a one-day free practical workshop designed to support goat owners in managing common health and husbandry challenges in the North Coast region.
The workshop covers key topics such as recognising signs of ill health, parasite and foot management, toxic plants, predator risks and best practice approaches to handling and husbandry. Goat electronic identification (EID) implementation is also included, with practical guidance on tagging requirements, movement documentation and why EID matters.
The workshop will be delivered by a team of experienced presenters, including goat expert and Hunter District Veterinarian Kylie Greentree, Sheep and Goat eID Coordinator Ebony Nowlan and North Coast District Veterinarian Ian Poe. Content is tailored to local conditions and focuses on the more prevalent issues faced by producers and landholders.
This workshop is not a complete guide to goat ownership, but it provides practical insight into key management areas that are often difficult to learn from written or online resources alone.
Additional details:
Morning tea and lunch will be provided.
While we will make every effort to accommodate dietary requirements, registrations received after Friday, 5 June may not allow sufficient time to cater for special dietary requirements.
Please wear enclosed footwear and bring appropriate sun protection, as parts of the workshop will be held outdoors.
