Overview of this event
Learn how portable in‑field scales help livestock producers track growth, pasture, emissions, and inputs and learn practical insights from farmers and experts.
Event details:
New in‑field weighing tech is giving livestock producers clearer, real‑time insight into how their animals and pastures are performing. Join Central Tablands Local Land Services for a relaxed session over coffee and hear directly from farmers who’ve used portable in‑paddock scales to sharpen their decision‑making and boost profitability.
You’ll hear how this technology helps producers:
understand weight gain and pasture performance
spot nutrition or water‑quality constraints early
reduce emissions and inputs
improve forecasting and carrying capacity.
Farmer insights:
Gus and Anna Hickman will share how having accurate weaner weights at the right moment helped them consistently beat the market - often two B‑doubles ahead of everyone else.
Andrew Dowd will talk about running an absentee cattle‑trading business using Optiweigh to lift profits and cut inputs. It’s a practical, farmer‑led look at tools that can genuinely grow your livestock business.
