Land literacy workshop series

Join this three-part Land literacy workshop series to gain the knowledge and tools to better understand, assess, and improve the natural assets on your land.

North Coast Local Land Services invites you to the Land Literacy workshop series, designed to help you build practical skills for managing and enhancing your property’s natural assets.

Why attend

This series is for land managers who want to:

• Refresh your understanding of your catchment, its natural assets, and its limitations.

• Learn together with others in your community.

• Gain access to mapping tools and datasets to better understand your property.

• Stay ahead of new nature-related opportunities, including environmental markets.

• Understand land capability and limitations to inform management actions.

What you will learn

• Better understand your land to improve both the ecological condition and the productive potential.

• Measure and track the condition of natural assets such as vegetation, water bodies, and broader landscape health for future planning.

• Gain skills to assess and read landscape processes and functions.

Course delivery:

This is a three-part workshop series which will occur on:

• Tuesday, 21 October - will focus on landscapes and catchments in a broader sense and touch on geology, soil, ecological systems, and links between production and ecological function.

• Wednesday 5 November - will include a discussion on the current opportunities for entering environmental markets and a farm walk with a practical component.

• Wednesday, 12 November - is about reading your land with prompts and activities to assess the condition of natural assets on the farm. Farm walk or site visit planned.

 Please note: Attendance at the first workshop is required to join the other two workshops.
