Overview of this event
Learn how to understand water flows, identify the causes of erosion, and apply practical rehydration techniques to eroded gullies and small streams to slow and spread water flow across your landscape.
Event details:
Healthy waterways are an important component of any property, helping to sustain biodiversity, regulate water cycles and underpin the productivity of the land.
North Coast Local Land Services is offering these hands-on workshops to help landholders understand how water moves across their property and the wider catchment, and learn how healthy waterways support stream ecology. Participants will learn to identify the underlying causes of erosion in streams, gullies, and small watercourses, and explore practical techniques to slow runoff, increase infiltration, and rehydrate the surrounding landscape.
Designed for land managers in upper‑catchment areas, this course is ideal for those working with degraded small streams or gullies who want to improve waterway health and landscape function. The course will be co-delivered with expertise from ROUS County Council and the SQNNSW Innovation Hub.
You should attend if you are:
a land manager dealing with degraded gullies, small streams, or eroding watercourses
wanting a better understanding of stream ecology and waterway health
interested in practical, low‑cost rehydration and erosion‑management techniques.
In these workshops, you will:
gain an understanding of how water flows across your property and your catchment and the ecosystems these waterways support
learn practical and low-cost techniques to slow runoff, increase infiltration, and rehydrate your landscape
build skills to improve biodiversity, soil stability, and long‑term property productivity
benefit from expert guidance delivered in partnership with ROUS County Council and the SQNNSW Innovation Hub.
Additional details:
This workshop includes:
an introductory online session
a practical workshop day on 22 April (9:00 am - 3:00 pm)
a second practical workshop day on 3 June (9:00 am–3:00 pm)
Participants are encouraged to attend all three sessions.
Morning tea and lunch will be provided on each practical workshop day.
