Silage Essentials Workshop - Manilla

Join North West Local Land Services Ag team for a practical day focused on quality silage production, storage, nutrition and economics. Featuring insights from industry experts and experienced producers.

Held on a local farm that has an indepth knowledge and experience in silage. See in person silage pits, silage harvesting gear and hear about the following topics covered by industry experts:  

• making quality silage  

• silage storage options 

• in paddock NIR testing  

• drought silage rations and nutrition 

• economics of silage for a beef production enterprise.

• John Noble - Herd manager, Using and managing a silage-based system 

• Sam Adams - Barenbrug Seed local representative, Forage species selection 

• Hayden Hollis - Agricore Agronomy, Host property agronomist 

• Wayne Roche - Masterchop Custom Silage, 30 year's experience as a silage contractor and producer insights into production feeding beef cattle with a silage-based ration

• Nathan Lister and Ben Ree Lallemand Technical Services Manager, with top tips to producing and storing quality silage  

• Sally Balmain – Senior Land Services Officer, applying silage to a beef production system and building a ration and the economics.

• Please bring a chair, hat and wear covered footwear.

• Come clean go clean event - this means that only clean vehicles and clean footwear are allowed on the farm, out of respect to the host farmer's biosecurity plan.
