Central Tablelands Local Land Services invites you to learn about koalas in the local region, including monitoring techniques and a live demonstration of dogs trained to detect koala scats.
Event details:
Join Dr. Kellie Leigh and the team from Science for Wildlife for an interactive session exploring koalas in the local region, including a live demonstration of dogs trained to detect koala scats.
You’ll also meet Groot, the koala scat-sniffing dog, and see how detection dogs help researchers locate koalas in the wild.
Workshop highlights include:
A talk about koalas in the local region, from the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area across to Orange.
Scat dog demonstration – koalas are not always easy to find, but the nose knows!
Learn more about how koalas are radio-tracked, along with camera trap and acoustic monitoring techniques for a range of different wildlife species.
An introduction to some of the apps available to identify and keep track of the species in your backyard.
