Overview of this event
Get insights into beef breeder management and learn how to compare genetic performance across major beef breeds and composites using advanced BREEDPLAN data.
Join Local Land Services to learn how the Southern Multi-Breed (SMB) Project is transforming the future of Australian beef production.
Event details:
For the first time, producers can directly compare genetic performance across 6 major beef breeds and composites—regardless of hide colour.
Using advanced BREEDPLAN data and high-accuracy genomic tools, SMB is zeroing in on the traits that matter most:
fertility
feed efficiency
carcass quality
reproductive performance
and more.
By unlocking smarter selection for hard-to-measure, economically critical traits, SMB is helping breeders boost productivity, profitability, and long-term sustainability.
The day will also feature valuable insights into breeder management and the use of confinement feeding strategies.
Don’t miss this opportunity to get ahead of the curve in genetic evaluation and herd improvement!
Morning tea and lunch are provided.
This event is brought to you by the Drought Adoption Officer Program. The Drought Adoption Officer program received funding from the Australian Government's Future Drought Fund through the Southern NSW Innovation Hub and Southern Queensland Northern NSW Hub.
