Squirrel Glider build a box - Ladysmith

Riverina Local Land Services has teamed up with Kyeamba Valley Woodworks to bring you a hands‑on workshop where you will have the opportunity to create your very own squirrel glider or possum nest box!

Many native animals rely on tree hollows for shelter, breeding and protection. However, hollow-bearing trees are declining at an alarming rate. Nest boxes can provide a suitable substitute when natural hollows are in short supply.

Event Details:

At this workshop, participants will:

• build their own squirrel glider or possum nest box using pre-cut materials

• learn about squirrel glider ecology, habitat needs, and local conservation efforts

• hear practical tips for installing and monitoring nest boxes on properties

• make a direct contribution to wildlife recovery in our region.

Additional details:

• No experience is necessary, just bring a willingness to learn and get hands-on. All tools and materials are supplied. This is a great event for landholders, nature enthusiasts, and anyone keen to support local wildlife.

• This event is suitable for ages 15 and up.

• Participants are required to wear enclosed shoes to participate in this event. Limited places are available. Refreshments will be available on the day.
