Understanding your livestock database

A practical workshop helping landholders understand NLIS, eID and LPA requirements, record‑keeping, and how to confidently manage their livestock database.

Event details:

This practical workshop, hosted by North Coast Local Land Services, is designed to help landholders and small farm owners build confidence in using the National Livestock Identification System (NLIS) database and understanding eID and LPA responsibilities.

Across a mix of presentations and hands‑on activities, participants will:

• Learn the essentials of livestock traceability, NLIS, eID devices, movement documentation and LPA compliance.

• Understand the new Sheep and Goat eID compliance requirements, including implementation timelines and what producers must do to meet the new standards.

• Practice key database tasks, including property‑to‑property transfers, checking devices on your PIC, entering deceased animals and managing replacement tags.

• Improve record‑keeping skills to meet audit requirements and streamline livestock management.

• Work through their own NLIS or livestock database challenges, with time set aside for questions and individual support.

Attending this workshop will help landholders avoid common compliance mistakes, strengthen biosecurity and simplify their livestock record‑keeping systems.

Additional details:

• Morning tea and lunch are provided.

• Please bring a laptop or tablet to participate in the hands-on database activities. We will be using a staging database to practice tasks like property-to-property transfers and PIC reconciliations without affecting your real records.

• Additionally, if you would like assistance addressing specific issues, please ensure you have your personal NLIS/MLA login details (username and password) available to use on the day.
