Overview of this event
Let’s talk baiting, trapping, shooting and fencing! Vertebrate pest management and weed control go hand in hand. Meet with our Invasive Species and Weed Teams to talk all things biosecurity and learn about key strategies such as coordinated baiting for wild dogs, foxes, and pigs, along with trapping, exclusion fencing, and herbicide application for weed management.
Event details:
Join Hunter Local Land Services for a practical information session on vertebrate pest management and how it supports effective weed control on your property.
This session will explore how controlling pest animals can help reduce the spread of weeds and protect the productivity, biodiversity and assets on your land. You’ll gain practical knowledge to help manage invasive species and stay ahead of emerging biosecurity risks.
On the day you will:
Learn about your General Biosecurity Duty (GBD) in relation to weeds and pest animals.
Understand why vertebrate pest management should form part of your integrated weed management strategy.
Have all of your questions answered by our LLS Invasive Species team on pest animal behaviour, including key strategies for coordinated baiting of wild dogs, foxes and pigs; alongside practical demonstrations of trapping.
Our team will provide hands‑on guidance and tips tailored to local conditions, helping you stay ahead.
Whether you manage a small block or a large agricultural enterprise, this session will give you the tools and confidence to meet your biosecurity responsibilities and improve the health and resilience of your land. Don’t miss this opportunity to connect, learn, and take proactive steps toward a healthier landscape.
Additional information:
A light morning tea and lunch will be provided on the day and specific dietary requirements will be catered for if known ahead of time.
This event may partially take place outdoors, so appropriate clothing and footwear is recommended.
