Overview of this event
Get key insights into winter cow nutrition to ensure healthy pregnancy, successful calving and survival.
Event details:
With the impacts of the challenging conditions experienced last winter in mind, ensuring cows receive adequate nutrition is critical for a healthy pregnancy, maintaining condition, and setting them up to re‑conceive.
Join Murray Local Land Services for a practical, farmer‑focused workshop on managing cow energy and protein requirements through winter to calving. You’ll learn what to feed, how to feed it, and how to stay on top of key animal health issues.
Geoff Minchin and Brett Littler (Drought Adoption Officers and farmers) will cover:
cow nutritional needs from winter through to calving
protein vs energy – what really matters
how to interpret feed test results
feed ration formulation – what to consider
practical options if the season turns.
Join us afterwards for afternoon tea and a cuppa.
Additional details:
Bring your feed test results along. There will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions, compare feeding options and explore strategies for managing through winter.
