The NSW Central Tablelands region boasts a rich and diverse biodiversity that reflects its unique blend of geological formations, climate zones, and ecosystems.
From the rugged sandstone escarpments and fertile valleys to the temperate woodlands and grassy box gum forests, our region supports an extraordinary array of flora and fauna, many of which are endemic or threatened.
Iconic species such as the powerful owl, purple copper butterfly, and a variety of native orchids and wattles thrive here, alongside ancient eucalypt communities and delicate wetland habitats.
This biodiversity is not only ecologically significant but also culturally and economically valuable, underpinning local agriculture, tourism, and Indigenous heritage.

Biodiversity month events
Each year, a collaboration of community, industry and government partners come together to offer events and workshops across the region.
Celebrating and protecting the Central Tablelands' biodiversity is essential, not just for conservation, but for fostering a deeper connection to the land and ensuring its resilience for future generations.
Join us in celebrating our biodiversity by joining in an event near you.
