New webinar series provides farmers with specialised drought support

The Lessons from the Land series aims to provide practical insights and technical advice from farmers with boots on the ground and real-life experience.

“This webinar series is about farmers learning from farmers,” Drought Adoption Program Officer Kate Pearce said.

“We’re aiming to have no-fluff, candid conversations about management strategies that worked, the ones that didn’t and how to navigate tough times in the future.”

“We know the best advice comes from experience and we also know how isolating tough times on the land can be. Not only are we hoping attendees learn some practical new advice, but we hope they walk away feeling more supported and less alone,” Ms Pearce added.

The webinars will run weekly starting this Tuesday October 21 at 7pm until November 11.

According to the latest Combined Drought Indicator data, approximately 26 per cent of NSW is currently considered drought affected.

Since July 2023 the Drought Adoption Officer Program has delivered more than 1,500 one on one consultations, 306 on farm visits, hosted or attended 474 awareness and capacity building events and reached more than 7,200 participants across the state.

Landholders wanting further support from the Drought Adoption Officer program are encouraged to contact their Local Land Services office on 1300 795 299.

The Drought Adoption Officer program received funding from the Australian Government's Future Drought Fund through the Southern NSW Innovation Hub and SQNNSW Innovation Hub.
