Project overview
As part of the Good Neighbours Program, South East Local Land Services will take a collaborative approach to improve the surveillance and management of Orange Hawkweed across public and private land holdings in and around Kosciuszko National Park.
Project background
Orange Hawkweed (Pilosella aurantiaca) is a significant threat to biodiversity in the alpine regions of Australia.
Modelling of potential spread shows major concerns for conservation areas and adjoining private land holders.
Project delivery
The Orange Hawkweed Control project will begin in 2025.
South East Local Land Services will build on the success of current weed control work by:
- providing additional resources for control
- increased aerial imagery to detect new infestations
- working with local stakeholders to improve the effectiveness of monitoring and control.
